"Mari Woods, of Mari Woods Kitchen Bath Home in Portsmouth, and Don Cook, of D.D. Cook Builders, Inc. in Greenland, rounded out the McCarrons’ design and construction team. Woods created the kitchen’s classic look. “They wanted a comfortable space that took advantage of being close to the water,” she says. Understated elegance was key—as was integrating the color white, Ann Marie’s preference (the kitchen walls, Farrow & Ball’s Borrowed Light, are a soft blue)."

A Home Built for Entertaining

"The transformation was a team effort between the homeowner; her longtime friend Mari Woods, of Mari Woods Kitchen Bath Home in Portsmouth; and Leslie Rifkin of L. Newman Associates/Paul Mansback, Inc. of Bedford.  The designers collaborated on redesigning the interiors, with Woods taking the lead on kitchen and bath design, and Rifkin selecting colors, fixtures, furnishings, decorative details, flooring and surfaces."

Two homeowners add comfort and sophistication to their splendid Portsmouth Victorian

Designer Mari Woods, of Mari Woods Kitchen Bath Home, LLC in Portsmouth, worked in close collaboration with the owner to incorporate texture and style. in the small, downstairs powder room, the owners used Portoro marble, a rare black marble veined with golden yellow threads that became the driver for the art deco décor. “The black mirrors create a dark, moody feel, and the gold and black wallpaper really complements it,” Woods says. “It’s dramatic and fun.
